Custom Foot Orthoses in Children and Adults

This presentation focuses on the concepts to consider and factors to evaluate in the successful prescription of custom foot orthoses (CFO) in the pediatric and adult patient population. The historical evolution of CFOs and the principles underlying their implementation is discussed. The significance of correct cast or image acquisition technique will be emphasized. The indications for special modifications to enhance CFO efficacy and the biomechanical rationale for their use is critical not only to proper CFO function but to subjective and objective patient improvement as well.
