This webinar will focus on “Keys to Success” for all qualified healthcare professionals who are using, or considering adopting, point-of-care fluorescence imaging of wound bacterial presence, location, and load. Dr Thomas Serena will focus on the clinical impact the fluorescence imaging procedure is having on getting ahead of infection, wound outcomes, and timing of CTP placements. Dr Jeffrey Lehrman will discuss appropriate CPT coding for this procedure and documentation tips to support how and why this procedure is performed on a given patient, as well as the imaging findings.

Drs Serena and Lehrman will also discuss how fluorescence imaging findings can aid clinical decisions, support the appropriateness, and medical necessity of other procedures (eg, Skin substitutes/CTPs, grafting procedures, and more).

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the medical indications for non-contact, real-time fluorescence imaging of bacterial presence, location, and load, as established by a recent Delphi consensus.
  2. Review applications and workflow of fluorescence imaging in routine wound management.
  3. Learn how to appropriately document the imaging procedure, imaging findings, and its medical necessity.
  4. Review the appropriate CPT codes for this procedure and understand its standing in the hospital outpatient department prospective payment system.
