The Double Jeopardy of Acute Limb Ischemia

Samuel Adegboyega, DPM

Acute Limb Ischemia (ALI) is an abrupt cessation of blood flow to the limb due to an embolus, thrombus, or trauma. This is a medical and surgical emergency with a clinical presentation of 6ps (Pain, Paresthesias, Pulselessness, Pallor, Paralysis, Poikilothermia). If a timely diagnosis is not made, this could result inacute renal failure, amputation, and death. This lecture discusses the importance of early diagnosis of ALI, early medical interventions, and urgent vascular consultation to prevent complications.
