Can Pressure Reduction Help with Exudate Management? Are SAP Dressings the Solution?

Alison Garten, DPM

Alison J. Garten, DPM, CPED discusses the concerns of excessive exudate in chronic wounds. Dr Garten also discusses the relationship between pressure reduction and exudate management, superabsorbent polymers (SAP), their advantages, how they can help your patient, as well as the types of wounds in which they are beneficial. For Florida podiatrists, no more than 8 hours (20% of the hours of continuing education required per biennium) of home study programs may be credited toward the licensee’s biennial continuing education requirement for license renewal. A test must be completed and passed demonstrating competency in the topic taught in order to receive credit for the course.
