Dr. Samuel Mendicino provides a comprehensive review of chronic lateral ankle instability and its proper diagnosis and treatment. He discusses the significance and differential diagnosis of continued pain in the setting of an unstable ankle. Pertinent anatomy is reviewed and accurate interpretation of radiographs including stress views is presented. Conservative versus surgical treatment options are given. Surgical techniques, including the Brostrum and peroneal sacrificing procedures, are described in detail. Video presentations of these procedures are offered along with valuable tips and pearls.
